Book cover photo illustration

posted in: Digital Art, Photo Illustration | 8

I was recently commissioned to create a photo illustration for a book cover. The project brief included the following; identical twin blonds, armed, 1 in casual clothing and 1 in a dress with heels (among other details). The twins also needed to be over-looking a Mediterranean city
from a balcony.

This concept required some custom photography and a few stock images. I was able to work with a familiar model and photograph the images of the twins myself. Before I photographed the model, I had the balcony photo and the Mediterranean city stock photo, so I knew exactly how the model would fit into the scene.

After the elements were in place, I waved my Photoshop wand, smoke appeared, there was a loud noise and then the final image appeared. Not really, but that would be so cool ๐Ÿ™‚

When the book becomes available, I will post a follow-up link so you can purchase a copy.

Wow, great work, Jamie! I really love the tone and the lighting.

Now, if you could just make me a Photoshop wand like the one you have … haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Amanda Thanks Amanda! 1 magic Photoshop wand coming right up ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not to be mistaken by the wand tool ๐Ÿ™‚

Haha sweet ๐Ÿ™‚ I would ask if you could have it ready in time for the BR for me, but I won’t be able to participate. IF I miraculously qualified, I’d be on vacation during R1. I think I may try out one of those mini-challenges, though. Good luck this year! I look forward to seeing what kind of work you create.

@Amanda Sorry you can’t play in the BR. Those mini challenges do look interesting, I might be up for 1 ๐Ÿ™‚

I will not be in the BR this year. I will be @ PS World when it starts and I will be busy with projects off and on. Maybe next year ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you’re having a great time at PSW! I’d say that’s a good reason to not be in the BR this year. ๐Ÿ™‚

I looked at all the pictures in the starter lightbox … I don’t think I even have the brainpower to come up with anything remotely creative at the moment. So it’s probably best I steer clear from an ugly defeat for now ha!

PSW was great Amanda, I just got back. Hope to throw a blog post together.

You and me should do a 1 round mini battle just to get your feet wet. You can do it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad you had a great time! Just read the blog post about your experience; it sounds amazing there. I probably would’ve been glued to the Wacom booth the entire time haha ๐Ÿ™‚
I may have to consider a 1 round battle with ya; it would definitely be an easy win for you! I’ll be available anytime after Sept. 18. Once they give more details about the mini battles, we’ll have to set up something. ๐Ÿ™‚
